Power finance corp tax free bond opens for subscription from tommorrow. it offers 8.5% interest and buy back option after 5 or 7 years. Listing on both BSE and NSE. The value of 1 unit is 5000 Rupees.
Is this better or same like SBI bonds? Any idea guys?
This includes the interest accrued from Nov 1st 2010 - 23 Feb 2011 (115 days) which is roughly 3% or Rs 300. So the net premium on these 9.5% bonds is around Rs 180 or 1.8 %.
Now, since these are 9.95% bonds, I would assume that they would command at least .45% higher premium which would bring the total permium on listing to (1.8+.45) 2.25%.
Add to this the interest SBI is paying on your application money and whatever incentives you can get from your broker and the net return comes out to be roughly 3%.
That's the way I calculated it. And this is a very conservative calculation. I reality, I'm expecting 5-6% total return on listing as the prices would fluctuate higher and lower than this average. For me 5% return in a months time is really good for a safe bond like SBI.
Your account will be debited after processing of cheque so do not worry, till time branch account has been debited as your cheque is realised then it will be credited.
Thanks CLD. Hi all, Can you please let me know on my below query. For sbi bonds, I submitted the form yesterday and yesterday itself the cheque was realized, did the same happen to you guys as well ?

Dear Sreedhar/and subramanyam nagarajan can any one clarify my doubt that i have applied for the sbi bonds yesterday. After listing in a secondary market can i sell the bonds immediatly and exit with minimum premium? or i need to wait for a long time to exit. Because this is first time i am going for the bonds like this. and if iam keeping the bonds for six months what will be the intrest paid to me? pls share your view on this.
