I got only 306.37 as monthly payout from this SMC global, I invested 50k and opted for 60 months tenure / monthly interest pay out which means for 50K i should be getting around 414.16 if the coupon rate is 9.94%, but i got only 306? any idea why i got lesser pay out than expected one?

What is the effective rate? If investor will get interest based on coupon rate, what is the purpose of effective rate?

Take smc 60 months monthly NCD for example. Coupon rate is 9.94% and effective rate is 10.4

Greetings,

The effective yield is the total return that an investor receives when his investment matures. The effective yield in case of a cumulative interest payment option is always greater than the monthly or yearly interest payment option, as the interest amount is reinvested at the same rate until maturity. (If the interest is paid out annually, then the effective yield on an annual basis is the same as the coupon rate.)
